Open big CSV files online
without crashing anything.

Drop in a file that's too big for Excel or Google Sheets. openbigcsv.com parses it in your browser, keeps it off any server, and lets you search, sort, and export it in seconds.

Free up to 300,000 rows in this tab. For tens of millions of rows and warehouse data, that's Row Zero, free too.

Everything above runs locally in your browser tab. Nothing is uploaded, logged, or stored — see how this works.

Why it doesn't choke

Built for files that break spreadsheets

Excel tops out around 1,048,576 rows and slows down long before that. Google Sheets caps at 10 million cells. openbigcsv.com skips both limits by never loading the whole file into a spreadsheet grid at once.

Stays local

Nothing leaves your browser

Your file is read and parsed on your machine with a background worker thread. No upload, no server round-trip, no copy of your data anywhere else.

Virtualized grid

Renders only what's on screen

Instead of drawing every row into the page, the grid renders a window of visible rows and swaps them as you scroll — so 250,000 rows scroll as smoothly as 250.

Real filtering

Search, sort, and export

Filter across every column at once, click a header to sort, and export exactly the rows you're looking at as a clean CSV.

How it works

Three steps, zero installs

STEP 1

Drop in your file

Drag a CSV, TSV, or TXT file onto the page, or click to browse. Parsing starts immediately, streamed in chunks.

STEP 2

Search, sort, explore

Type into the search box to filter every column at once, or click a column header to sort by it.

STEP 3

Export, or move to Row Zero

Download the filtered view as CSV, or continue the same file in Row Zero for pivot tables, charts, and tens of millions of rows.

When you outgrow a browser tab

Row Zero picks up where this tool stops

openbigcsv.com is built by Row Zero, a cloud spreadsheet that connects live to Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, and BigQuery and handles billion-row datasets without exporting ungoverned CSVs in the first place.

Open the same file, further

Row Zero's free plan opens 10s of millions of rows, keeps 400+ Excel-compatible functions, and includes pivot tables and an AI chat agent.

Skip the CSV export entirely

Connect straight to your warehouse instead of exporting a file at all — every CSV export is a copy of your data that someone now has to secure.

Enterprise-ready when you need it

SOC 2 Type II, HIPAA, and GDPR compliant, with a Zero Data Retention architecture and support for 1 billion+ row datasets on Enterprise.

FAQ

Common questions

Does my file get uploaded anywhere?
No. Parsing happens entirely in your browser using a background worker thread. openbigcsv.com never sends your file to a server.
How big a file can I open?
This free browser tool handles up to about 300,000 rows smoothly in a single tab, depending on your device's memory. For files in the tens of millions of rows and up, use Row Zero, which is also free to start.
Do I need to create an account?
No account is needed to open, search, or export a file with the tool on this page. An account is only needed if you continue the file in Row Zero.
